- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup packed brown sugar (light or dark, depending on preference)
- 1/4 cup heavy cream (or whole milk)
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 to 3 cups powdered sugar, sifted
Instructions
Step 1: Melt the Butter & Brown Sugar
- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add brown sugar and stir constantly until fully dissolved and smooth.
- Let the mixture simmer for 2 minutes, stirring frequently.
Step 2: Add Cream & Cool the Mixture
- Pour in heavy cream (or milk) while stirring continuously.
- Let cook for another minute, then remove from heat.
- Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature before proceeding.
Step 3: Beat in Vanilla & Salt
- Once cooled, transfer to a mixing bowl.
- Add vanilla extract and salt and beat for 1 minute until fluffy.
Step 4: Incorporate Powdered Sugar
- Gradually add sifted powdered sugar, one cup at a time, beating until smooth.
- Adjust consistency by adding more powdered sugar (thicker) or a splash of milk (thinner).
