  • 1 tsp garlic powder For that delightful aroma and flavor.
  • 1 tsp chili powder Adds depth to your dish.
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper Optional; spice it up if you dare!
  • to taste Salt and black pepper Always essential to enhance flavors.
For the Assembly
  • 8 pieces corn tostada shells The perfect crunchy base.
  • 2 cups shredded Monterey Jack cheese Melts beautifully and adds richness.
  • 1/4 cup salsa Fresh and zesty!
  • 1/4 cup shredded lettuce Crisp and refreshing.
  • 1/4 cup sour cream For that creamy finish.
  • 1/4 cup guacamole Because everything’s better with guac!

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven or broiler: Adjust your rack so it's about 6 inches from the broiler.
  2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine refried beans, black beans, diced green chiles, garlic powder, chili powder, cayenne (if using), salt, and pepper. Stir gently until everything is warm, about 3-4 minutes.
Assembly
  1. Line a baking sheet with tostada shells and spoon the warm bean mixture onto each shell.
  2. Sprinkle shredded Monterey Jack cheese over the beans.
  3. Broil for 1-3 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  4. Dress each tostada with salsa, lettuce, sour cream, and guacamole.

Notes

For extra crunch, heat tostada shells before adding toppings. Use pre-made guacamole for a quick option.
