Sweet Potatoes
  • 6 medium medium sweet potatoes, cooked Wash, peel, and scrub before cooking.
For the Glaze
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter Control the salt for a balanced flavor.
  • 1 cup brown sugar Adds depth of sweetness.
  • 1/4 cup water Helps create the glaze.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Feel free to adjust to taste.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Wash, peel, and scrub the sweet potatoes. Place them in a pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 30 to 45 minutes until fork-tender.
  2. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  3. Once cooled, slice the sweet potatoes into 1/2-inch rounds and layer them in a 3-quart casserole dish.
Glaze Preparation
  1. In a small saucepan, combine the unsalted butter, brown sugar, water, and salt. Heat over medium, stirring often until it boils and bubbles for about 5 minutes.
Baking
  1. Pour the warm glaze over the sweet potatoes, making sure to coat them. Bake uncovered for 45 minutes.
  2. Serve hot for best flavor.

Notes

Time-saving: You can cook sweet potatoes a day in advance. If the glaze isn't thick enough, boil for a few more minutes. Consider adding cinnamon or nutmeg for variation.
