- Wash, peel, and scrub the sweet potatoes. Place them in a pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 30 to 45 minutes until fork-tender.

- Once cooled, slice the sweet potatoes into 1/2-inch rounds and layer them in a 3-quart casserole dish.
Glaze Preparation
- In a small saucepan, combine the unsalted butter, brown sugar, water, and salt. Heat over medium, stirring often until it boils and bubbles for about 5 minutes.
Baking
- Pour the warm glaze over the sweet potatoes, making sure to coat them. Bake uncovered for 45 minutes.
- Serve hot for best flavor.
Notes
Time-saving: You can cook sweet potatoes a day in advance. If the glaze isn't thick enough, boil for a few more minutes. Consider adding cinnamon or nutmeg for variation.
