Ingredients

Cured Meats
  • 150 grams Assorted cured meats (e.g., salami, prosciutto) Choose a mix of textures: thin prosciutto and firmer salami.
Cheeses
  • 200 grams Various cheeses (e.g., cheddar, brie, gouda) Cut some into triangles for a tree look; use softer cheeses for creaminess.
Fresh Fruits
  • 1 cup Fresh fruits (e.g., grapes, berries, apple slices) Toss apple slices in lemon water to prevent browning.
Olives and Nuts
  • 1 cup Olives (green and black) Rinse jarred olives if they taste too salty.
  • 100 grams Nuts (e.g., almonds or walnuts) Adds a crunchy bite.
Crackers or Breadsticks
  • 1 box Crackers or breadsticks Serve crisp; use Christmas bread for a softer base.
Herbs
  • 5 grams Fresh herbs (e.g., rosemary, thyme) Use for garnish to mimic pine boughs.

Method

Preparation
  1. Lay out a large platter or cutting board in the shape of a triangle for your tree.
  2. Layer the cured meats at the base, working upward in rows. Fold prosciutto into ruffles and stack salami.
  3. Add layers of cheese, cutting wedges or triangles for a tree-like look.
  4. Fill in gaps with fresh fruits and nuts, tucking grapes in bunches and scattering berries.
  5. Place olives and crackers around the tree for decoration.
  6. Garnish with sprigs of rosemary and thyme, and add a small star of cheese or bright berries at the top.
Serving
  1. Serve immediately, or cover loosely and refrigerate until ready to serve.
  2. Bring cheeses back to room temperature before serving for the best flavor.

Notes

Time-saver: Buy a mix of pre-sliced meats and cheeses. If crackers go soft, pop them in the oven for 3-4 minutes to crisp.
