Method
Preparation
- In a large bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm milk. Add sugar, egg, melted butter, salt, and flour. Stir until combined, then knead until smooth and elastic. Let it rise in a warm spot, covered, for 1 hour.
Filling
- While the dough is rising, mix the brown sugar, cocoa powder, and cinnamon in a separate bowl.
- After the dough has risen, roll it into a rectangle on a floured surface. Spread softened butter, then sprinkle the sugar mixture and mini chocolate chips.
Rolling and Rising
- Roll the dough tightly from one end, slice into thick pieces, and place in a greased baking dish. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes.
Baking
- Preheat your oven to 350°F. Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
Glazing
- While the rolls cool, mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla for the glaze. Drizzle over warm rolls.
Notes
For extra decadence, top with cream cheese frosting. Prepare rolls the night before for a quick breakfast. If yeast doesn't bubble, it may need to be replaced.
