Preparation
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, instant yeast, sugar, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- In a separate bowl, mix the warm milk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla.
- Gradually add the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring until a dough starts to form.
- Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 6-8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
- Once risen, gently punch down the dough and fold in your dried fruit and nuts.
- Shape the dough into a loaf and place it in a greased loaf pan. Cover and let it rise again for about 30-45 minutes.
Baking
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
- Let it cool down slightly before slicing.
Notes
Make it ahead: this dough can be made and stored in the fridge overnight. Try adding orange zest or almond extract for variations.
