Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour (The base for your fluffy bread.)
  • 1 packet instant yeast (No waiting for the dough to rise and no fuss!)
  • 1/4 cup sugar (A little sweetness goes a long way.)
  • 1 teaspoon salt (Brings out all the other flavors.)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon (This warms the soul, doesn’t it?)
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg (A hint of holiday spice.)
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup warm milk (Activates the yeast for a light texture.)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted (For that rich, buttery flavor.)
  • 2 large eggs (Adds structure and richness.)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (Because everything’s better with a hint of vanilla!)
Add-ins
  • 1 cup dried fruit (like raisins or cranberries) (Use your favorites to add a chewy surprise.)
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional) (For a delightful crunch.)

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, instant yeast, sugar, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix the warm milk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla.
  3. Gradually add the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring until a dough starts to form.
  4. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 6-8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
  6. Once risen, gently punch down the dough and fold in your dried fruit and nuts.
  7. Shape the dough into a loaf and place it in a greased loaf pan. Cover and let it rise again for about 30-45 minutes.
Baking
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
  3. Let it cool down slightly before slicing.

Notes

Make it ahead: this dough can be made and stored in the fridge overnight. Try adding orange zest or almond extract for variations.
