Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F and place a baking sheet on the center rack.
- Open the tubes of cinnamon rolls without separating them. Reserve the glaze.
- Slice the rolls into 1/4-inch-thick pieces.
- On a floured piece of parchment paper, place one round in the center and arrange 6 to 8 slices around it to create a circular design.
- Cut 3 to 4 more rolls in half to fill in gaps and roll into an 11-inch round.
- Invert the cinnamon roll crust into a 9-inch pie plate.
- Repeat with remaining dough for the top crust, creating a 10-inch round.
Filling Assembly
- Toss sliced apples with sugar, apple pie spice, and a little flour.
- Spoon the apple mixture into the bottom crust and dot with butter.
- Carefully place the second cinnamon roll crust over the apples and seal the edges.
- Cover the edges with foil to prevent burning.
Baking
- Bake for 45 minutes, then remove the top foil and bake for an additional 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown.
- Let cool for 10 minutes and spread reserved glaze on top.
- Allow pie to cool for at least 1 hour before serving.
Notes
You can prepare the apple filling ahead of time. For juicy apples, consider lightly pre-cooking to reduce moisture. Add cranberries or walnuts for an interesting twist.
