  • 1/2 lb crab meat, drained and flaked
  • 1/2 lb shrimp, peeled, deveined, and chopped
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs Can swap panko for airier crunch
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped green onions Adds a crisp bite
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped red bell pepper For sweetness and color
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice Brightens everything up
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Gives extra flavor boost
  • 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil For frying

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, combine the crab meat, chopped shrimp, and breadcrumbs.
  2. Add the green onions and red bell pepper to the mixture.
  3. Stir in the mayonnaise, Dijon, lemon juice, beaten egg, minced garlic, and Old Bay seasoning. Mix until everything is evenly coated.
  4. Season with salt and pepper to taste, and then form the mixture into patties about 1/2 inch thick.
Cooking
  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. When the oil shimmers, add the cakes and cook for 4–5 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
  3. Remove the cakes and drain on paper towels for a minute. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

For best texture, serve hot. Add a squeeze of lemon for brightness. Can be served with a variety of sides and dips.
