Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  2. Fit your pie crust into a 9-inch dish, pressing it gently into the edges and trimming any excess dough.
  3. If desired, brush the edges with a bit of beaten egg mixed with water for a lovely golden finish.
Making the Custard
  1. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth.
  2. Gradually pour in the milk while stirring to create a custard base.
  3. Sift the flour with nutmeg, then slowly add it to the egg mixture, stirring carefully to avoid lumps.
Baking
  1. Pour the custard into the prepared pie shell, spreading it evenly.

Notes

If you're short on time, use a store-bought crust. If your custard is lumpy, pass it through a fine sieve before pouring. Add spices like cinnamon or lemon zest for extra flavor.
