Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a small bowl, stir together the flour, baking soda, and baking powder.

- Gradually pour in the flour mixture and blend until just combined.
- Roll rounded tablespoonfuls of the dough into balls and roll them in the remaining sugar.
- Place the dough balls on ungreased cookie sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Baking
- Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until golden.
- Transfer the cookies to wire racks to cool.
Notes
If you're short on time, you can chill the dough for just 10-15 minutes. Avoid overmixing to keep cookies tender. For variations, mix in chocolate chips or sprinkle cinnamon into the sugar for rolling.
