Ingredients
  

Filling
  • 1 29-ounce can sliced peaches in heavy syrup or 4 cups fresh or thawed frozen peaches
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar For fresh or frozen peaches, sprinkle and let sit for 30 minutes.
Batter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar Plus 1 tablespoon for topping.
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted Use unsalted for better control over flavor.
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon Optional; adds warmth.
Serving
  • to taste vanilla ice cream or whipped cream For serving.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare the peaches: If using canned peaches, open the can and pour them in without draining. For fresh or frozen peaches, sprinkle them with 1/2 cup of sugar and let sit for about 30 minutes.
  3. Melt the butter: In a 9x13-inch baking dish, place the butter and put it in the oven until melted.
Making the Cobbler
  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, 1 cup of sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir in the milk until smooth.
  2. Pour the batter over the melted butter without stirring. Spoon peaches and their juices evenly over the batter.
  3. Sprinkle ground cinnamon and 1 tablespoon of sugar on top.
BAKE
  1. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes, until the top is golden and the edges are bubbling.
  2. Cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For best results, serve warm with vanilla ice cream. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3-4 days. Reheat slices in the oven for the best texture.
