Ingredients

For the pie
  • 1 9-inch unbaked pie crust Store-bought or homemade
  • 1 cup heavy cream Full-fat for rich texture
  • 1 cup granulated sugar Sweetness at its best!
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour For thickening the filling
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt Balances sweetness
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Adds depth of flavor
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg For warmth and spice
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon Brings cozy aroma
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter Cut into small pieces for topping

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Place your unbaked pie crust in a 9-inch pie pan, gently crimping the edges, and set aside.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, flour, and salt until well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix the heavy cream and vanilla extract. Whisk this mixture into the dry ingredients until smooth.
  4. Pour the filling into the prepared pie crust, spreading evenly.
  5. Sprinkle ground nutmeg and cinnamon over the top.
  6. Dot the filling with small pieces of butter.
Baking
  1. Bake the pie in the preheated oven for 15 minutes.
  2. Reduce the temperature to 350°F (175°C) and bake for an additional 30 to 35 minutes, or until the filling is set and the top is lightly golden.
Cooling
  1. Remove the pie from the oven and cool on a wire rack for at least 1 hour before serving.

Notes

Use store-bought pie crust for convenience; if the filling doesn't set, ensure thorough whisking. Consider adding almond extract for a twist.
