Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Place your unbaked pie crust in a 9-inch pie pan, gently crimping the edges, and set aside.
- In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, flour, and salt until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, mix the heavy cream and vanilla extract. Whisk this mixture into the dry ingredients until smooth.
- Pour the filling into the prepared pie crust, spreading evenly.
- Sprinkle ground nutmeg and cinnamon over the top.
- Dot the filling with small pieces of butter.
Baking
- Bake the pie in the preheated oven for 15 minutes.
- Reduce the temperature to 350°F (175°C) and bake for an additional 30 to 35 minutes, or until the filling is set and the top is lightly golden.
Cooling
- Remove the pie from the oven and cool on a wire rack for at least 1 hour before serving.
Notes
Use store-bought pie crust for convenience; if the filling doesn't set, ensure thorough whisking. Consider adding almond extract for a twist.
