Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan, lining it with parchment paper.
Mixing
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
- Incorporate the eggs one by one, followed by the vanilla extract.
- Alternate adding the dry ingredients and buttermilk to the butter mixture, starting and ending with the dry.
Baking
- Gently fold in the hot fudge sauce and chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 55-60 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
- Drizzle warmed hot fudge sauce on top and sprinkle with chocolate chips and nuts if desired.
Notes
You can mix the dry ingredients the night before and store them in an airtight container. Adding a swirl of peanut butter or espresso powder is a creative way to enhance flavor.
