Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and grease your donut pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, nutmeg, and salt.
- In another bowl, mix the buttermilk, beaten eggs, vanilla, and melted butter until blended.
- Gently add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
- Fill each donut well about 2/3 full.
Baking
- Bake for 8-10 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- For the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
- Dip each warm donut into the glaze and set them on a wire rack to cool.
Notes
You can prepare the batter the night before and refrigerate it. If you overbake, use simple syrup or extra glaze to add moisture back. Adding a sprinkle of cinnamon into the glaze adds extra flavor.
