Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 24 pieces Oreo cookies, roughly chopped Use any variety you love!
  • 1 box (3.9 oz) instant chocolate pudding mix This gives the cake a creamy, rich texture.
  • 2 cups cold milk Cold is key for that perfect pudding consistency.
  • 1 box (15.25 oz) chocolate cake mix Just the right amount of fluffiness!
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted This helps create that gooey, decadent layer.
  • 1 cup whipped topping (such as Cool Whip) For that dreamy, creamy finish.
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips (optional) A little extra chocolate never hurt, right?
  • Extra cookies Oreo cookies for garnish (optional) Because we all love a little extra crunch!

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. Spread the chopped Oreo cookies evenly over the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Press them down just a little.
  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together the instant chocolate pudding mix and cold milk until thickened, about 2 minutes.
  4. Pour the pudding evenly over the Oreos.
  5. Sprinkle the dry chocolate cake mix evenly over the pudding layer.
  6. Drizzle the melted butter over the entire cake mix surface.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 35 minutes, or until the top seems set and slightly crispy.
  2. Remove from the oven and let cool for 10 minutes.
  3. Top with whipped topping, mini chocolate chips, and extra Oreo cookies if desired. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

Prepare the pudding mix and chop the Oreos the night before to save time. If the cake mix looks too dry, add more melted butter to moisten it. For a twist, try using vanilla pudding instead of chocolate.
