Ingredients

Peanut Butter Base
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter Choose your favorite brand for that perfect creamy texture.
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter Using unsalted butter lets you control the overall saltiness.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract This brings a lovely depth of flavor.
  • 2 cups powdered sugar Adds sweetness and a melt-in-your-mouth texture.
Chocolate Layer
  • 1.5 cups chocolate chips (semi-sweet or milk chocolate) Use your favorite variety—milk chocolate is sweet and creamy!
  • 2 tablespoons peanut butter More peanut butter means more flavor!

Method

Preparation
  1. In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt together the butter and peanut butter. Stir constantly until it becomes a smooth blend.
  2. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. Gradually add the powdered sugar, mixing until thick and smooth.
  4. Spread the mixture evenly into a lightly greased 8×8 inch or 9×13 inch pan.
  5. Place the pan in the fridge to firm up while making the chocolate layer.
Chocolate Layer
  1. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips with the 2 tablespoons peanut butter in 30-second intervals, stirring after each until smooth.
  2. Pour the chocolate mixture over the peanut butter base and spread it out evenly.
Chilling
  1. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until firm.
  2. Once set, cut into small squares and serve.

Notes

For a time-saving trick, use an electric mixer on low speed to blend the powdered sugar. If the chocolate layer is too thick, microwave it for a few seconds to soften. Consider garnishing with a sprinkle of sea salt or serving with a side of honey.
