Base Ingredients
  • 13 pieces graham crackers These provide a delightful crunch that serves as the perfect base.
  • 1 cup unsalted butter So you can control the overall saltiness.
Filling Ingredients
  • 1 cup brown sugar This is the magic ingredient for that rich flavor.
  • 2 cups pecan halves, chopped Use fresh pecans for the best flavor.
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract Adds a warm, inviting aroma.
  • 1/4 tsp salt Just enough to enhance all the delicious flavors.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Line a baking sheet with tin foil and grease it well.
  2. Spread the graham crackers in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
Making the Mixture
  1. In a pot, combine the butter, brown sugar, salt, and chopped pecans. Heat over medium until boiling, stirring occasionally for about 2 minutes.
  2. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract carefully.
Baking
  1. Pour the mixture over the graham crackers and ensure all pieces are covered.
  2. Bake in the preheated oven for about 10 minutes until golden brown.
  3. Allow to cool to room temperature before breaking into pieces to serve.

Notes

Make it ahead for better flavor. If overcooked, add a splash of water in a pan over low heat to soften. For a variation, add cinnamon or chocolate chips.
