Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13 inch pan with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, mix together 2 cups of flour, 1/2 cup brown sugar, and 1/2 tsp salt for the crust.
- Add in 1 cup of softened butter and combine everything until crumbly but cohesive.
- Press the mixture into the lined pan, spreading it evenly.
- Bake for about 15–18 minutes until it’s lightly golden.
Filling Preparation
- While the crust is baking, whisk 3 eggs, 3/4 cup pure maple syrup, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 2 tbsp flour, and 2 tsp vanilla extract in a large bowl until smooth.
- Stir in 2 cups of chopped pecans.
Baking
- Pour the mixture over the hot crust, spreading it out gently.
- Bake for another 30–35 minutes until it’s set and golden on top.
Finishing Touches
- Allow it to cool completely in the pan, then sprinkle with flaky sea salt.
- Lift it out, cut into squares, and serve.
Notes
Make the crust a day in advance and refrigerate it for better flavor. If the filling seems too runny, bake a little longer. Consider adding cinnamon or nutmeg for extra warmth.
