Ingredients
  

Crust
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour For that perfect crumb!
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Keep it at room temperature for easier mixing.
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar Adds a deeper flavor.
  • 1/2 tsp salt Balances the sweetness beautifully.
Filling
  • 3 eggs Large and fresh, please!
  • 3/4 cup pure maple syrup The real deal for authentic flavor.
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar Plenty of sweetness coming your way!
  • 2 tbsp flour To help bind the filling.
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract A warm hug in liquid form.
  • 2 cups chopped pecans The star of the show!
  • Flaky sea salt for topping Just a sprinkle for that sweet-salty finish.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13 inch pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, mix together 2 cups of flour, 1/2 cup brown sugar, and 1/2 tsp salt for the crust.
  3. Add in 1 cup of softened butter and combine everything until crumbly but cohesive.
  4. Press the mixture into the lined pan, spreading it evenly.
  5. Bake for about 15–18 minutes until it’s lightly golden.
Filling Preparation
  1. While the crust is baking, whisk 3 eggs, 3/4 cup pure maple syrup, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 2 tbsp flour, and 2 tsp vanilla extract in a large bowl until smooth.
  2. Stir in 2 cups of chopped pecans.
Baking
  1. Pour the mixture over the hot crust, spreading it out gently.
  2. Bake for another 30–35 minutes until it’s set and golden on top.
Finishing Touches
  1. Allow it to cool completely in the pan, then sprinkle with flaky sea salt.
  2. Lift it out, cut into squares, and serve.

Notes

Make the crust a day in advance and refrigerate it for better flavor. If the filling seems too runny, bake a little longer. Consider adding cinnamon or nutmeg for extra warmth.
