  • 2 cans 20 oz each apple pie filling Grab some sweet, tart apples for flavor!
  • 1 box 15 1/4 oz yellow cake mix (dry mix only) This brings the comforting taste of a classic cake.
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted Using unsalted butter helps control the saltiness.
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon (optional) Cinnamon adds cozy warmth.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Lightly coat the inside of your 5 to 6-quart slow cooker with cooking spray or butter.
  2. Spoon the apple pie filling into the bottom of the slow cooker and spread it evenly.
  3. If desired, sprinkle cinnamon on top of the apples.
  4. Gently sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix over the apples without stirring.
  5. Slowly drizzle the melted butter over the cake mix to cover as much as possible.
Cooking
  1. Cover the slow cooker and set it to cook on HIGH for 2 to 2 1/2 hours or on LOW for 4 to 5 hours.
  2. Check for readiness; the top should be golden and set with a delightful aroma.
  3. Turn off the slow cooker and let it rest uncovered for 10 to 15 minutes before serving.
Serving
  1. Serve warm in bowls with a topping of creamy ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

Time-saving tip: Use store-bought apple pie filling for easier prep. If the cake mix doesn't cook fully, let it go a bit longer.
