Preparation
- Lightly coat the inside of your 5 to 6-quart slow cooker with cooking spray or butter.
- Spoon the apple pie filling into the bottom of the slow cooker and spread it evenly.
- If desired, sprinkle cinnamon on top of the apples.
- Gently sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix over the apples without stirring.
- Slowly drizzle the melted butter over the cake mix to cover as much as possible.
Cooking
- Cover the slow cooker and set it to cook on HIGH for 2 to 2 1/2 hours or on LOW for 4 to 5 hours.
- Check for readiness; the top should be golden and set with a delightful aroma.
- Turn off the slow cooker and let it rest uncovered for 10 to 15 minutes before serving.
Serving
- Serve warm in bowls with a topping of creamy ice cream or whipped cream.
Notes
Time-saving tip: Use store-bought apple pie filling for easier prep. If the cake mix doesn't cook fully, let it go a bit longer.
