Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 3 lbs beef chuck roast A tender cut that practically melts in your mouth.
  • 1 packet onion soup mix Adds a savory punch without any fuss.
  • 1 cup beef broth For that rich, deep flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce A splash of umami goodness!
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper Just a touch of warmth.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder A flavor booster that enhances everything.
  • 6 pieces sandwich rolls or brioche buns Soft, pillowy perfection for piling on the beef.
  • 6 slices cheddar cheese For a melty topping.
  • to taste caramelized onions or pickles Optional for topping.

Method

Preparation
  1. Start by placing the beef chuck roast into your slow cooker.
  2. Add the onion soup mix, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, black pepper, and garlic powder. Stir gently to coat the beef.
Cooking
  1. Cover the slow cooker and let it cook on LOW for about 8 hours or HIGH for 4 to 5 hours, until the beef is fork-tender.
Serving
  1. Once cooked, shred the beef with two forks and return it to the slow cooker to soak in the broth.
  2. Toast the sandwich rolls or brioche buns until golden and slightly crisp.
  3. Pile the shredded beef onto the toasted buns, adding a slice of cheddar on top. Optionally, add caramelized onions or pickles.
  4. Serve hot with extra jus on the side for dipping.

Notes

Prep the slow cooker the night before for an easy morning. If beef seems dry, it might need more cooking time. Add horseradish mayo for added flavor.
