  • 1 Tablespoon cinnamon
  • cup butter (melted)
For the Cream Cheese Glaze
  • 8 ounces cream cheese (softened)
  • ½ cup butter (softened) Use unsalted butter for better control over the salt.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • splash milk Just a splash for a smooth glaze.
For Garnishing
  • cup sugar (granulated or sanding)
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the vanilla cake mix, eggs, vegetable oil, buttermilk, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Stir until smooth.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix the brown sugar, all-purpose flour, and cinnamon for the cinnamon swirl. Drizzle the melted butter into the dry mixture and combine.
Assembly
  1. Pour half of the cake batter into a greased bundt pan. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon mixture over the batter, then add the remaining batter and top with the rest of the cinnamon mixture.
  2. Use a knife to gently swirl everything together.
Baking
  1. Place the bundt pan in the preheated oven and bake for about 45 to 50 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Cream Cheese Glaze
  1. While the cake cools, mix the softened cream cheese, softened butter, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and powdered sugar with a splash of milk until smooth.
Serving
  1. Once the cake has cooled completely, invert it onto a platter and drizzle the cream cheese glaze over the top.
  2. Sprinkle with granulated sugar and cinnamon.

Notes

If short on time, measure dry ingredients the night before. To avoid a dense cake, don't overmix the batter. You can also add chocolate chips or nuts for an extra twist.
