Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a small bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, 2 tablespoons of sugar, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until smooth.
- If using fresh strawberries, toss them in another bowl with 1 tablespoon of sugar.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry and cut it into four equal squares.
Assembly
- Place 1-2 tablespoons of the cream cheese mixture in the center of each square, then add a spoonful of strawberries.
- Fold over the pastry and press the edges together to seal.
- Brush the tops with the beaten egg for a glossy finish.
Baking
- Bake in the oven for about 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
- Let the turnovers cool slightly after baking.
- For optional glaze, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla, then drizzle over the turnovers.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in a toaster oven at 350 degrees F for 5-7 minutes.
