Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a saucepan, combine 1 cup of water and 1/2 cup of unsalted butter; bring to a boil over high heat.
- Quickly stir in 1 cup of all-purpose flour and 1/4 teaspoon of salt until the dough forms a ball.
- Remove from heat and let the dough cool slightly, about 5 minutes.
- Add 4 large eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until smooth and glossy.
- Drop spoonfuls of the mixture onto a lined baking sheet, spacing them apart.
Baking
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until the puffs rise and are golden brown.
Filling
- In a bowl, whip 1 cup of heavy cream with 1/4 cup of powdered sugar and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
- Cut the tops off the cooled puffs and spoon the whipped cream inside each one.
- Top with sliced fresh strawberries, replace the tops, and serve immediately.
Notes
For the best texture, allow the dough to cool slightly before adding eggs. Using a pastry bag for filling can enhance presentation.
