Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 3 pieces ripe bananas, mashed Ripe bananas = sweeter flavor
  • 1/3 cup melted butter Melted butter ensures moistness
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • pinch salt
  • 3/4 cup sugar You can reduce the sugar by up to half without a problem.
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Don't over-mix.
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips Use good quality chocolate chips for best taste

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 4×8 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth.
  3. Stir in the melted butter.
  4. Mix in the baking soda and a pinch of salt.
  5. Add the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
  6. Gently fold in the all-purpose flour until just incorporated.
  7. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  8. Pour the batter into your prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
Baking
  1. Bake for 60-65 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  2. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Time-saver: Use pre-mashed bananas if you're in a hurry. Common mistake: Overmixing can lead to a dense loaf — mix until just combined! Simple variation: Add a sprinkle of cinnamon for a warm spice kick.
