Method
Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C).
- Melt the butter and chopped chocolate together in a medium bowl. Allow it to cool slightly.
- In another bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and brown sugar until combined. Add in the eggs and vanilla extract, then mix well.
- Gradually add the flour, cocoa powder, and salt to the egg mixture. Gently fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
- Spread the brownie batter into a lined 9-inch square pan.
Baking
- Bake for 32-35 minutes. Once done, cool them for 1-2 hours on a wire rack.
Frosting
- While the brownies cool, prepare the frosting. Beat the softened butter in a bowl until creamy.
- Gradually add the confectioners sugar, cocoa powder, heavy cream or milk, vanilla, and a pinch of salt. Beat until the mixture is smooth and fluffy.
Finishing Touches
- Once the brownies are completely cooled, spread the frosting over the top.
- Cut them into squares and enjoy!
Notes
For a fun twist, try adding a layer of caramel or nut butter between the brownie layer and frosting. Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
