Ingredients
  

Brownie Base
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter Melted
  • 2 (4-ounce) semi-sweet chocolate bars, coarsely chopped
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup packed light or dark brown sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 2/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips For added richness
Frosting
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 and 1/2 cups confectioners sugar
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3 tablespoons heavy cream or milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • pinch salt

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C).
  2. Melt the butter and chopped chocolate together in a medium bowl. Allow it to cool slightly.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and brown sugar until combined. Add in the eggs and vanilla extract, then mix well.
  4. Gradually add the flour, cocoa powder, and salt to the egg mixture. Gently fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  5. Spread the brownie batter into a lined 9-inch square pan.
Baking
  1. Bake for 32-35 minutes. Once done, cool them for 1-2 hours on a wire rack.
Frosting
  1. While the brownies cool, prepare the frosting. Beat the softened butter in a bowl until creamy.
  2. Gradually add the confectioners sugar, cocoa powder, heavy cream or milk, vanilla, and a pinch of salt. Beat until the mixture is smooth and fluffy.
Finishing Touches
  1. Once the brownies are completely cooled, spread the frosting over the top.
  2. Cut them into squares and enjoy!

Notes

For a fun twist, try adding a layer of caramel or nut butter between the brownie layer and frosting. Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
