Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a medium bowl, toss the sliced Granny Smith apples with 1/2 cup of granulated sugar and ground cinnamon. Set aside.
- Place the pie crust into a 9-inch pie plate, fluting or crimping the edges.
- Spread the apple mixture evenly into the prepared pie crust.
Crumble Topping
- In a small bowl, mix together the remaining 1/2 cup of sugar and all-purpose flour.
- Grate the cold butter into the mixture or cut into small cubes, and work it in until it resembles small peas.
- Sprinkle the crumble mixture over the top of the apples.
Baking
- Bake in the preheated oven for 40-50 minutes until the apples are tender and the crumble is golden brown.
- Cover with foil if the top browns too much. Let cool slightly before slicing.
Notes
For best results, let the pie cool for at least 15 minutes before serving.
