Method

Preparation
  1. Start by cleaning and slicing the mushrooms evenly.
  2. Mince the garlic and chop your herbs.
Cooking
  1. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add your olive oil or butter and let it get hot until it begins to shimmer.
  2. Add the mushrooms in a single layer and let them cook untouched for about 3 to 4 minutes.
  3. Stir occasionally for another 3 to 5 minutes until they become tender and nicely browned.
  4. Lower the heat to medium, and mix in your minced garlic. Sauté for about a minute.
  5. Toss in your fresh herbs, salt, and pepper. Add a splash of lemon juice or balsamic vinegar if desired.
  6. Transfer the mushrooms to a serving dish and sprinkle with grated Parmesan if you like. Serve warm.

Notes

Quick prep: You can chop your mushrooms and garlic ahead of time. Store them in the fridge until you’re ready to cook. If mushrooms get too soft, ensure the skillet is hot when adding them to sauté, not steam. Consider adding a splash of red wine before serving for extra flavor.
