Ingredients

Smoothie Ingredients
  • 1 bag green tea bag (or 1 teaspoon matcha powder)
  • 1 medium banana, ripe The riper the banana, the sweeter and creamier your smoothie will be!
  • 1.5 cup unsweetened plain almond milk Can be substituted with any preferred plant-based milk.
  • 0.5 cup frozen grapes Frozen fruit adds creaminess without the need for yogurt.
  • 2/3 cup frozen peaches (or frozen mango)
  • 1 cup baby spinach Mild in flavor; can experiment with other greens like kale.
  • 0.5 teaspoon maple syrup Adjust sweetness according to taste.
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice Enhances brightness of the smoothie.
  • 4-5 pieces ice cubes Use more if needed to adjust consistency.

Method

Preparation
  1. Begin by steeping your green tea bag in hot water according to the instructions on the packaging. After steeping, remove the tea bag and let the tea cool down a bit.
  2. If you’re using matcha powder, whisk it in hot water until evenly mixed.
  3. Add the cooled green tea (or prepared matcha) along with the remaining ingredients to a high-speed blender.
  4. Blend thoroughly until the mixture is smooth. Taste the smoothie and adjust flavors if necessary by adding more maple syrup for sweetness or a splash more lemon juice for brightness.
  5. If you find the consistency is too thin, toss in a few more ice cubes and blend again.
  6. Enjoy your delicious and nutritious Green Tea Smoothie!

Notes

While smoothies are best enjoyed fresh, leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. Consider freezing portions for quick future smoothies.
